Many of you may know her as a Season 14 contestant on Project Runway. She may not have taken the ultimate price (she finished 5th place) but she designed a winning look for Heidi Klum’s intimates line which was sold nationwide. Being on Project Runway was the perfect exposure as she went on to start her own fashion label Merline Labissiere.

Merline Labissiere debuted her fall/winter 2016 collection at Art Hearts Fashion event during the just concluded New York Fashion Week. And I was more than fortunate to watch her perfectly constructed collection on the runway. Her collection was very architectural and a unique mix of business and casual chic. It was all about structures, shapes, clean lines and fit – skirts and pants that perfectly hugged the body like a lover’s embrace. Models were styled with hats and open toe platform sandals that gave the perfect pop of color.

With a bachelor’s degree in Fashion from Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) and a background in Architecture, Labissiere draws inspiration from geometric shapes, architecture silhouettes, and fashion installations. Her mission is to design for the creative women who can’t express themselves through what they wear. She’s a problem solver and hopes to discover solutions that will impact these women as they create amazing art.
