New York Fashion Week for Spring/Summer 2016 collections officially kicked off on Thursday, September 10th with big name designers like BCBG Max Azria, Tadashi Shoji and Marissa Webb showcasing their latest designs to buyers, fashion editors, celebrities and media. As that was going on another very important fashion week activity that especially caters to independent designers was also going on. “Small Boutique Fashion Week (SBFW) is the only business oriented runway show and market geared toward small business owners, emerging designers, and novelty designers that are looking to get their start by selling to small boutiques and unique shops.”
This year, SBFW partnered with Empire Hotel to kick off fashion week and celebrate their 8th season. I was lucky to receive an invite for the launch party which took place at the Empire Hotel Rooftop. I received the invite later that same day so was very late to the party, but being late was so much better than being absent. I networked and met some of the models and designers and also watched a runway show filled with floral prints and statement hair pieces.
The fashion crowd did not disappoint either.
The fashion show is on Saturday, September 12th from 11 am to 11 pm at Metropolitan Pavilion featuring more than 50 top independent designers. Click here to purchase ticket.
