Fashion Envie (Fashion + Environment + Life) “is a creative extension of Beau Monde Society and an annual Eco-collective that features ethical designers and artists.” Beau Monde Society (BMS) is an Eco-focused communications agency that specializes in fashion production, creative direction, and strategic branding. The aim of BMS is to create a platform that addresses the lack of representation of emerging Eco-friendly designers; and that was why they launched Fashion Envie in April 2013 to promote a sustainable future. BMS hosted their fifth installation of Fashion Envie in New York City on Saturday, April 22nd, 2017. This year’s theme was METAMORPHOSIS, inspired by climate change and the current global political climate.
Heading into their fifth annual installation, Fashion Envie has inspired, informed, and encouraged their audience to shop local, create a sustainable future, and be ethical citizens. Fashion Envie’s Metamorphosis featured a fashion presentation and art exhibition created by Jennifer Nnamani (who is also the founder of BMS). The featured designers were Eauseenon, KAHKTI, and Thundress. Guests at the event were served wine, light hors d’oeuvres, colorful deserts, and freshly pressed juices as they shopped and admired the displayed designs. Part of this year’s ticket proceeds would go to ACLU, RAINN, Environmental Defense Fund and Stand With Standing Rock.
I was fortunate to attend this year’s event and had my camera to capture some of the best fashion moments and excitements. I hope you enjoy the photos below.
Presented their 2017 A/W collection titled “The Innocents”. This collection has a feminine and soft touch, and yes it exudes innocence.
Showcased their second collection titled “IFUNANYA” this is an Igbo word which means love. Igbo is the language spoken by the Igbo people, an ethnic group of south-eastern Nigeria. The emphasis of this collection was on double layer of consciousness because a lot of people battle with their identities formed from their trans-national and poly-cultural experiences. The collection featured bold cuts and layers and African prints. The brand presented their first collection last year and I also featured the designer on the blog.
Is an Eco-friendly or as the designers would call it, a coochie-friendly underwear launched after the designers decided they don’t want toxic chemicals in their cooters anymore.
Best fashion moments
Many stylish people showed up and showed out.
This is a fashion event you don’t ever want to miss. Look out for next year’s installment.
