Essence Magazine held their annual Street Style Block Party on Sunday, September 13th in DUMBO, Brooklyn, under the Manhattan Bridge Archway. The fiercest fashionistas in New York were all at this party. I knew I was in for a treat when I saw this lady with the most gorgeous gray curls and sexiest shoes walk off the train ahead of me. The party was from 12pm-5pm and was hosted by Dana Blair with a special live performance by Andra Day, and music by Olivia Dope and Tiff McFierce. There were various local vendors and designers, and food trucks at the party. There was a booth for the Essence beauty box which attendees visited to update their beauty looks like getting their nails done. Later on in the afternoon it started to drizzle but that didn’t slow people down or stop the fun. Those that could take shelter did so under one of the many tents provided or inside the crowded archway. Those that couldn’t just waited out the rain which didn’t take long before it stopped. Some of the attendees included actress Gabrielle Union who received the 2015 closet crush award, and singer Mel B. Most of the people at this party carried themselves with such sartorial elegance and class. Luckily, I had my camera to capture some of the best fashion moments.
