Guess what starts two days after Valentine’s Day? NYC Restaurant Week! From February 16 – March 6, you can enjoy three-course meals with your lover, friends or family paying only $25 for lunch and $38 for dinner at over 300 participating restaurants. The reservation lines opened on Monday, February 2nd. So, start booking your reservations and get ready to enjoy the best cuisines NYC has to offer at ridiculously low cost. Bear in mind that Saturdays are excluded and Sundays are optional, so confirm your reservation with the restaurant ahead of time.

Below is a list of 5 restaurants I look forward to checking out. They are perfectly located and have great reviews.

The Cecil

This restaurant is located in Harlem. According to the website, it is NYC’s first Afro-Asian-American brasserie. I’m surprised I haven’t heard of it before because I try my best to eat at as many African restaurants as I can find in Harlem. They have a lot of options in their menu; one that got my attention (although it’s not part of the menu for restaurant week) is the West African beef suya. I may try it to find out if it rivals the suya we eat in Nigeria. I doubt it though because nothing can compare to the suya we eat in Nigeria. But I am willing to give The Cecil a fair chance.

Sirio Ristorante

Located in the Upper East Side and named after the legendary restauranteur, Sirio Maccioni, this upscale Italian restaurant offers dishes that “range from pastas and appetizers to simple and robust entrees.” I love Italian food and have dined at quite a few Italian restaurants, so, I’m definitely excited to check this place out.

Texas de Brazil

With over 40 locations across US cities, Texas de Brazil is no doubt one of the nation’s top Brazilian steakhouses. Their cuisines are a combination of Southern Brazil and the generous spirit of Texas. The menu features gourmet vegetables and salads, various cuts of seasoned beef, lamb and chicken, and Brazilian sausage.

Gaonnuri

Gaonnuri is a Korean restaurant that occupies the 39th floor penthouse in Koreatown, giving you a magnificent view of Midtown including the Empire State Building. The menu options include scallion pancake, braised short ribs and beef tartare marinated in sesame oil and soy sauce. I am a huge fan of Korean food! The way I feel when I’m in Koreatown must be the same way kids feel when they are in Disney World. So, I’m definitely looking forward to dinning here.

JoJo Restaurant

Founded by chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten in 1991 and occupying a two-story brownstone in the Upper East Side, JoJo offers contemporary French dishes, which include poached lobster, charred octopus and foie gras brûlée.
