Emulsions are lightweight and water-based moisturizers that are great for oily and acne-prone skin. It’s shocking to me that I only heard about them this year. The person I heard of them from was talking about the Sulwhasoo Essential Balancing Emulsion and how much her skin loved it.

Emulsions are Lightweight and Water-Based Moisturizers

They are basically moisturizers but lighter which makes them perfect to use during spring and summer. You can apply them as the final step in your skincare routine or you can apply a heavy moisturizer afterward. My skin loves moisture especially in this cold NYC weather so I’m applying my moisturizer (currently obsessed with Drunk Elephant protini polypeptide cream) after emulsion.

At $63 on Sephora, Sulwhasoo Essential Balancing Emulsion was above my price range considering I was just buying to find out what they can do for my skin. Although, I do plan on eventually buying it, because that’s what I do….I try different products until I find my holy grail.

But I came across Cosrx Natural BHA Skin Returning Emulsion which is cheaper at $15 on Amazon. I love buying skincare products on Amazon because they are usually affordable and also effective. I’ve used Cosrx products before most especially the essences which are my go-tos so I was comfortable buying the emulsion. The Cosrx emulsion smells a bit funny though but it’s an extra needed hydration my skin craves.

Another emulsion that also seems great for oily and acne-prone skin is the Dr. Oracle A-Thera Emulsion on Soko Glam. I didn’t buy it but at $34 I most likely will. Description says it leaves oily skin plump and moisturized without causing additional breakouts. Hello!!!!

My thoughts on the Cosrx Natural BHA Skin Returning Emulsion

I have been using Cosrx Natural BHA Skin Returning Emulsion for over a week and I have to say my skin feels a bit plumper and smooth. Could it be the Cosrx emulsion? I’m not sure exactly because I also use other forms of hydration in my skincare routine, but you never know, it might be the driving factor.

Do you use emulsions in your skincare routine? What are your thoughts about them? And which brands do you swear by?
